Opposition leader calls on premier to get Nova Scotia Power under control
NDP Leader Claudia Chender called on Premier Tim Houston to bring solutions for Nova Scotians struggling with the high cost of energy bills.
Chender, speaking at a Nova Scotia ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) rally outside Nova Scotia Power headquarters, said she was going to ask Houston, who is also the province’s energy minister, to bring “Nova Scotia Power under control to make the company serve Nova Scotians.”
“We need a utility that works for us,” said Chender on Tuesday.
She said Houston has ignored affordability issues Nova Scotians are facing.
“Tim Houston made himself the energy minister and yet we sat in the legislature for 30 days last year. He spent 100 days outside of this province, selling our natural resources to the world, and it turns out nobody wants them. We don’t have any bidders, and he has completely ignored the reality that Nova Scotians are facing.
