As 2025 comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on just how much has happened in Dartmouth South over the past year. There is a real sense of momentum in our community. New housing has taken shape across our neighbourhoods, the new No Frills opened in Woodside, and vibrant new businesses continued to bring energy and life to our downtown. These changes represent progress built through community effort, advocacy, and care for one another. As we look back on the year, there is so much to celebrate and so much to be proud of, in the way Dartmouth South continues to grow.
At the same time, this year has also reminded us that progress is not without challenges. Housing affordability and availability remain pressing issues for many, and proposals like the Dartmouth Cove infill have shown just how important it is to stay engaged and speak up for the places we value. Reflecting on 2025 means recognizing both what we’ve achieved and where more work is needed. As we look ahead to 2026, I remain committed to advocating for thoughtful development, protecting our environment, and ensuring that growth in Dartmouth South puts people and community first.
As we reflect on the year behind us, there is so much to look forward to in the weeks ahead. Our community continues to come alive through events at Alderney Landing, The Sanctuary Arts Centre, and the Dartmouth Seniors Service Centre. And of course, I’m especially excited for the Downtown Dartmouth Business Commission Ice Festival coming up in January - a winter tradition that brings neighbours together and showcases the creativity and spirit of our downtown. You’ll find details on these and many more events below, and I hope you’ll be able to join in.
Thank you for being such an engaged, caring, and passionate community throughout 2025. Your voices, advocacy, and connection to one another are what make Dartmouth South such a special place. As we head into 2026, I look forward to continuing this work together, building on our progress, facing challenges head-on, and shaping a future we can all be proud of.
