As we begin 2026, I am feeling energized and deeply motivated to continue working alongside the Dartmouth South community to make life better for Nova Scotians. The past year brought meaningful progress, and there is much to be proud of. At the same time, there is important work ahead and necessary change to pursue. This is a moment to stay engaged, to speak up for what is right, and to ensure that community voices continue to shape the decisions that affect our daily lives. My door is always open, and if you see me out in the neighbourhood, please stop and say hello, I’m always happy to connect.
There are so many opportunities to come together as a community, even in the heart of winter. The Downtown Dartmouth Business Commission Ice Festival kicks off on January 30, bringing creativity, fun, and energy to our downtown. There are also excellent winter programs underway at the MacPhee Centre for Creative Learning, along with some fun events at the Dartmouth Seniors Service Centre. Winter can be challenging, but community connection matters more than ever, and I hope to see you out enjoying Dartmouth South as much as we can!
Many Nova Scotians are facing real and growing pressures. Higher power bills, unreliable service, and the ongoing fallout from a serious cybersecurity failure have shaken public trust in a monopoly utility that affects every household and business in our province. When personal information is compromised, bills are inaccurate, and significant rate increases are proposed without accountability, it raises serious questions about oversight and fairness. Nova Scotians deserve transparency, strong consumer protections, and a system that works in the public interest. I remain firmly committed to advocating for accountability and fairness so that people are treated with respect and confidence in the services they rely on. In the meantime, if your billing looks inflated or you have concerns please contact Nova Scotia power to resolve this at 1-800-428-6230.
As your MLA, my role is to represent you in the Legislature, on committees, and here in our community. Whether I am debating legislation, scrutinizing public spending, or listening to constituents’ concerns, this work is guided by the responsibility to ensure your voices are heard and reflected in government decisions. As we move into 2026, I look forward to continuing this work together, building on our progress, facing challenges head-on, and strengthening Dartmouth South as a community where everyone belongs.
