Premier backpedals, restores budget cuts worth $53.6 million

NDP and Official Opposition Leader Claudia Chender accused the government of not doing its homework before presenting a budget which she said created “chaos” and probably lost the trust of many Nova Scotians. 

But Chender said the decision by the premier to walk back some of the cuts shows that people can be effective when they stand up and speak out. 

“I think that Nova Scotians are paying attention and using their voice. The gallery has been full every night. We have people in the streets. 
That makes a difference. And for lots of people, it’s the only way that they know how to influence something, and they’re influencing something,” Chender said.
