May Tulips are here—and with it, a renewed sense of energy and connection. After a long winter, there’s something special about seeing neighbours out walking, gardens starting to bloom, and patios opening up again. This season is all about renewal, and it’s a great time to get out, get involved, and reconnect with your community. Whether it's volunteering, supporting a local business, or simply saying hello to someone new, spring is a reminder that strong communities are built one small act at a time.
There’s no shortage of ways to get involved in Dartmouth South this month—especially at the Dartmouth Seniors Service Centre! From cozy Queen’s Teas and heartfelt Mother’s Day Brunches, the Centre is a hub of connection, celebration, and support. They’ve also just launched a new grocery transportation program to help seniors access fresh food with ease—another great example of community in action.
And mark your calendars for Open City on Saturday, May 10! Downtown Dartmouth will be buzzing with energy as local shops, restaurants, and makers open their doors wide to celebrate everything that makes our community vibrant, creative, and welcoming. Come explore, support local, and soak up the springtime joy.
There are no shortage of sports to support this spring and summer! The Halifax Hoopers, our professional basketball team, are calling the Zatzman sportsplex home this season so go out and support these great athletes! This month I also crossed the harbour to check out the home openers of the Halifax Wanderers and the brand new Halifax Tides, our own Northern Super League professional women’s soccer team. The atmosphere at the Wanderers Grounds is amazing and I encourage everyone to get out and cheer on our teams!
