Budget bill gets pushback from woodlot owners
During question period, Opposition leader Claudia Chender zeroed in on what she describes as a shocking lack of accountability for Nova Scotia Health’s $3.3 billion budget for 2026-27.
Chender noted that one of the first things the Houston government did five years ago was to dismantle the board of directors that oversaw the running of hospitals across the province. Premier Tim Houston centralized control by appointing Karen Oldfield as “interim Chief Executive Officer” of Nova Scotia Health. Oldfield had previously served as part of Houston’s transition team after he was first elected in 2021.
