PCs move to give Nova Scotia's housing minister 'backstop' powers to intervene in Halifax housing

NDP Leader Claudia Chender criticized the move as another example of provincial interference in municipal jurisdiction.

“On the face of it, this is one of a long series of bills that unilaterally interferes with municipal jurisdiction,” Chender said.

She also raised concerns about costs.  

“This one seems to have an undetermined price tag attached that they can foist upon municipalities,” Chender said.
