Opposition MLAs question value of Premier Tim Houston's travel
Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston spent more than three times as many days out of the province as he spent in the legislature in 2025, and opposition MLAs are asking how that benefitted taxpayers.
The NDP released data Thursday showing that Houston took 26 trips in 2025 that covered 104 days and cost about $82,000. The legislature sat for 30 days in 2025.
NDP Leader Claudia Chender questioned the value of the premier’s travel, which included meetings in his capacity as energy minister.
“We don’t have more jobs, we are in a historic provincial deficit and we have a looming energy rate increase that [Houston] doesn’t seem to think is at the top of his agenda,” she told reporters Thursday.
