Nova Scotia Power president promises ‘fix’ for thousands of customers

Following Tuesday’s grilling of Nova Scotia Power executives, NDP Leader Claudia Chender made a motion requesting another special meeting to question the Department of Energy’s deputy minister on the subject of power bills. Chender insisted that as energy minister, Houston has both the means and the authority to change regulations that could lower the cost of electricity for Nova Scotia residents.

Chender notes the PC government has refused to implement a program that would provide a credit on power bills for low-income households, despite the recommendation from a task force on energy poverty that has the support of Nova Scotia Power.
