Province introduces bill to revamp privacy, access to information laws

“I think what we have seen in this act are more efforts to fiddle around the edges,” said Opposition NDP Leader Claudia Chender, who noted that an overhaul of FOIPOP was one of Houston’s “signature promises” while he was in Opposition to the then Liberal government.

As for balance, she said the new bill is government finding a balance of “letting as little information out as possible out,” while Nova Scotians continue to be thirsty for information on how their tax dollars are being spent.
