Nova Scotia 'taking over planning' for housing construction in HRM

NDP Leader Claudia Chender said it’s “creating a mess.”

“All of HRM is a special planning area under the province: why would anyone run for council?” She said that’s the reason for a municipal government, to give thoughtful consideration to many other issues besides building housing, like transit.

“It may unlock some housing, and that’s good, we need more housing, but there is a better way to do that.”
