Nova Scotia's NDP leader hears out Cape Breton residents troubled by golf course talk for West Mabou Beach Provincial Park

Chender spent Monday afternoon in Mabou listening to area residents who are upset over the provincial government’s reported talks with representatives from Cabot, the Toronto-based developer and operator of luxury residential, resort and golf destinations, over what were described earlier this month by Natural Resources minister Tory Rushton as “some ideas” for resurrecting the firm’s golf course proposal for West Mabou Beach Provincial Park.

“What we heard most, of course, was the value of the land and the beach, to the community, but beyond that there is real dismay that a provincial park could be considered for private development,” Chender told the Cape Breton Post.
