"Unearthed" by Pat Locks

unearthed: works in textiles

At the Craig Gallery at Alderney Landing

"“Unearthed” refers to textiles that may have come from an excavation site. I am drawn to the symbolic and aesthetic elements of decay – the way that simply the wearing down and aging process can yield beautiful imagery while at the same time symbolizing the transience of human structures. Cloth literally absorbs colour, marks and patterns, becoming like an artefact – a material history of the landscape." - Pat Loucks

A beautiful testament to to the tragedy of the Halifax Explosion 100 years ago.
